Autumn War 2010
Youth and Children's Activities
Children must be accompanied by an adult at
all times. Children's activities is a place for parents and children to explore,
socialize, have fun and learn
a little, this means that this is not the place to wear good garb.
Children should wear clothing that they can get wet, soapy, dirty, messy,
and sticky and still have a marvelous time.
Please note:
all Youth and Children's Activities are subject to change
Thursday
Noon-1:30 pm Free play- there will be period games, puzzles, and toys out
for kids to play with
2:00- 3:30 pm Sheet Felting
4-5 pm Indonesian Theater Masks
5:15-6:30 Making Fans
Friday
10:30- Noon Balinese Shadow Puppets
12:30-2 pm Construction of wooden Table tops catapults and Castle games
1:00-3:00 Old Italian cross stitch must register beforehand for kids over
the ages of 12_6 max cost $1
2:00-4:00 basic knitting limit 6 students
2:30-4 Weaving projects
6:30- 7 pm Meet and Greet for all tourney contestant
7-8 kids Bardic circle- Come share a story, song or dance with new friends
Saturday
10 AM Start of the Griffin Heart Tourney A&S
10:30 Blacksmithing with Lord Ogier
10:30-11:30 Judging of the GHT A&S Projects
Noon- 2:00 Basic Armor with Lord Ogier
1-2:30 Bardic Competition for the Griffin Hearts Tourney and Simurgh
Tourney at the Iron Needle
2:30-4:30 Old Italian Cross Stitch Must Register beforehand minimum 3
students max of 6 cost $1
2:45-4:00 pm Pottery Workshop with her Ladyship Mehitabel Pottern
3:30- 4:15 Paper beads making with Tarafina
4:15-6 PM Start of the Griffin Heart Scavenger hunt
4:30 Simurgh Tourney A&S project presentations (each kid gets 15 minutes)
7:30-9 pm Kid’s Bardic circle- Come relax after a busy day, share a tall
tale, jovial dance or a lively tune
Sunday
10 am-Noon Simurgh Tourney Scavenger hunt

Griffin’s Heart Championship
This championship is open to children ages 5-9 and their parent. It
consists of three categories:
* Scavenger Hunt: Each contestant will get clues to find objects around
the site.
* Arts & Science: Yet to be decided, will be something the kids can do on
site.
* Bardic: Each contestant will sing, tell a story, do a dance, or play an
instrument.
The winner receives a cloak, banner, and chest to keep for the period of
one year to be returned the following Autumn War, at which time the winner
must add something to the chest to be passed on. The banner is to be
displayed over the chest at every event so Kids can come and play.
Simurgh Tourney
This championship is open to children ages 10-15 and their parent. It
consists of three categories:

Scavenger Hunt:
Each contestant will get clues to find objects around the site.

Arts & Science:
Kids need to bring their Arts and sciences project to the event,
Documentation gets bonus points.

Bardic: Each
contestant will sing, tell a story, do a dance, or play an instrument.
Documentation gets bonus points as does originality.
The winner receives
chest of Kandahar which contains- Inside the chest of Kandahar is 2 ½
yards of green wool, 2 ½ yards of linen, 2 yards of silk, 6 yards of
muslin, an amber necklace, 2 boffers, a chest of multiple board games from
around the world, a wooden bowl, 2 wooden soup spoons, one plate, 1 paper
lantern, leather for shoes, and a catapult kit to keep for the period of
one year to be returned the following Autumn War, at which time the winner
must add something to the chest to be passed on. Second prize is a wooden
mug with Simurgh on it and a Gemstone necklace. The chivalry prize is to
remain a surprise. Winners of the Tourney will be announced at Closing
Court. All children that participate will receive a special token.
