Welcome to the SCA and Blatha an Oir!
If you are an experienced SCAdian, but new to this Kingdom and/or branch we have special information here
Welcome to the Society for Creative Anachronisms (SCA). I am your Chatelaine, or “welcome wagon lady”, Isabel de Fleur. My job is to help you get adjusted to this new world that is the SCA; to help you understand our language and customs.
You are invited to the Baronial Fight Practice & Socials on Tuesday Nights!
Check out the BAO homepage to get information on times and place!
A great place to get information is The Postern Gate, the e-mail list setup for the populace of Blatha an Oir.
To subscribe to the Postern Gate go to the antir.sca.org website.
The Postern Gate is now hosted on the AnTir Kingdom server. The new address for posting to the Postern Gate (now known as [gate2]) is bao@antir.sca.org If you don't receive confirmation of your subscription within 24 hours please email the Gatekeeper, requests occasionally get lost in the junk mail filter.
Regarding children...
Children are most welcome at SCA events! Here are some tips for making it easier on and your child(ren). You will need to bring waivers with you to events for each child. Please have these filled out before you arrive, this will help you get through "gate" faster. Gate is where you sign in and pay for the event.
If you are the parent/guardian of the child(ren) you need this form.
Minor Consent Form for one child
or if you have more than one child
Minor Consent Form for multiple children
If you are not the parent/guardian of the child(ren) you will also need the following form notarized.
Minor Medical Authorization Form
It is good practice to have "If found" information on your child. Please include your modern and SCA name, your cell phone number, and who you are camping with.
There is a $5.00 non SCA member charge per person per event. Many events will allow children to attend for free, but the age of what is considered a child varies from event to event so please read event copies carefully.
The SCA is incredibly family friendly. Most events offer the services of a Pied Piper. The Pied Piper(Youth Activities Coordinator) leads parents and children through fun activities, art projects, story times, crafts, and so much more! These wonderful people are not babysitters though, so please do not just drop your child(ren)off. You are expected to stay and guide your child(ren) through the activity.
